Now that we are deep into the 21st century, there’s no escaping technology. Whether you think technology is good or bad or somewhere in between, it is inevitable that it will impact your work, and the work of the teachers you lead. As an administrator, or trainer, you may feel that you need to address technology in your program or with your training participants.
Teachers may know how to use technology in their personal lives, but do they know how to apply what they know in DAP settings? What do you need to know to guide and prepare teachers? This webinar will help you integrate new approaches and resources that link DAP to technology implementation.
Join Karen Nemeth and Fran Simon, authors of Digital Decisions: Choosing the Right Technology Tools for Early Childhood Education for a webinar that will help you build technology into your content. They will reveal some of the key highlights from their national survey about teachers’ perspectives of technology and professional development, and how that information has shaped their recommendations .
In this webinar, you will:
a.) examine key points from the NAEYC//Fred Rogers Center Joint Position
Statement on Technology from the perspective of teacher educators;
b.) discuss what teachers need to know to implement technology in developmentally appropriate ways for preK – grade 2;
c.) evaluate your own digital readiness and digital literacy and determine what additional knowledge and information you need to prepare early childhood teachers to use technology in developmentally appropriate ways;
d.) explore how professional learning networks and social media can build connections amongst teachers and for ongoing professional development to provide continuous support for implementation of technology in early education classrooms.
